The Definitive $32 $32b Tunning Article
actually ive been looking into the FMS mafs. they are supposedly voltage based. ive got to make some time to call some folks to find out.
as for recaling the stock maf it can be done and has been done but on a midly modified 350 (350hp-400hp)even with all the recal work done and the maf completely port etc you still come up short.
the translator is a great option and the Buick scene has been using it with alot of sucess from my stroll through the archives and web searchs. its a good viable solution.
the Bosch M5 maf looks to be very exspensive. i called the bosch distributor here in detriot and they sell them for better then $300 to the dealers so *** knows what the dealer price is as they wont sell them directly to the gen public.
and i called the local wreckers
a 1227730 is $35 and the map sensor is $5 if you get a new one form autozone or the like anywhere from $15-$25
as for the 12277148 $35 they had 2 in stock need one ?

K ....guys ( I don't know whom I am talking to ) . I am basically a total newbie at this ...so bear with me ( unless there is a site for beginers ------> point me there so I don't annoy you guys ). As I am new to the " cooth" of the boeard please be gentle.
Anyhow ...... I got an 89 camaro 5.0L 5 speed .
my mods are in the sig ( nothing big )
but I have recently purchased a Edlebrock Highflo Base and runners set , also a ZZ4 cam .
I know I can count on this running like crap( if at all) untill I do so prom work . I still have to get the equiptment and everything ( I am just trying to get up to speed untill I get it ) . I am wondering what values to change . I have seen these two thrown around( lv8 accell enrich factor vs delta lv8 and, ACCEL enrich %bpw vs Asncy pulse ) ........all this makes nooooo sense to me so ...whatever. I am really new to the process .
I guess what I am looking for is a nice starting point for the tuneing ( I totally understand that you have to Uncheck that box for the ECU to use the new table values ) <----- that was the only thing that made sense to me
thanx all

if you have a MAF car you should be able to get away with it. the timing tables and MAf table might need a small bit of tweaking but youll also need to install the correct size injector etc to feed this motor.
advie.
24pph injectors at a minimum.
get some help either here or somewhere else for the miriad of small changes youll need to make.
working on the Prom isnt to tought for a MAF car. just read alot and be dilegent.

Ok, finally getting started with this after looking for awhile. I'm confused about some things.
Here's what I scanned almost a year ago (just for questions sake)
BLM / BLMCELL / INT / AIRFLOW / RPM / Throttle
118 / 10 / 131 / 30 / 1475 / 17%
118 / 14 / 128 / 43 / 1375 / 22%
Unmodified MAF but will be adding a supercharger hopefully by summer and using latest tunercat with 32b file so I jump to the section "this is the BPW FUEL vs LOAD, msec of inj PW" using tunercat my table looks like rpm vs lv8 wher e your picture shows it rpm vs airflow but the next picture is rpm vs lv8. I can't find a table that shows rpm x airflow so that's my first confusion. Since my BPW FUEL vs LOAD, msec of inj PW table looks exactly like the one that's rpm x airflow I assume this is the right one ?? My data shows that I'm a little rich i guess at 1475 rpm so do in increase the value at the 1200 x 32 intersection by a percentage and this will gradually align my readings. Make sense what I just said???

find out what the air consumption is at that particular load point and adjust it. the table is
rpm vs air flow (grm/sec) vs pw. its all there.
maybe you have a $6e code ?

Hmmmm. I'm not getting it, guess I'll read some more, I only have the one table.
I'm using the 32b file from tunercat and everthing looks good from what I know, bunch of tables, constants, etc. Nothing garbled so I assume nobody put a 6e chip in there (87 vette). Chip looked factory and unmodified from what I could tell. I just don't have a table that shows rpm vs gm/sec, looked at my bin with winbin and 32b file and I see that table, winbin doesn't show a rpm vs lv8 so I assume they are the same table right?? just called different. The other tables that your talking about I have, maybe I'm missing an option with tunercat, just started using it. bear with me
Just rechecked, chip is a abtd 0731

From tunercat:
There was an earlier version of the $32B ECM Definition File that did have this table in terms of air flow but it has since been corrected.)
So HITHERE think HITHERE understand now the BPW Fuel Vs. Load, (msec) table shows the values as RPM vs LV8 and the Spark Advance Vs. RPM Vs. Load is the other table that HITHERE was missing.that looks very much like the BPW Fuel Vs Load table but has much different numbers in it.
The light will come on eventually

its something wrong with the server it chamnges one letter things to hithere like I A U that type of thing, i dont know if anyone has told dirk yet, maybe someone should
can the mass air frequency be changed to use another type of mass air meter? an example would be, a mass air meter from a grand national is different from a mass air from an 87 IROC, the frequency is lower for the grand national mass air meter. it does work but i get a check engine light saying mass air too low, the frequency @ idle for a grand national meter is about 150 hertz, not sure what my 87 IROC meter is at idle (have to get my hands back on the ocsilliscope), and the forth gen meter idles at about 2000 hertz to about 10,000 hertz @ WOT, is there chip bin tuning for this frequency to be changed to use the newer mass air from a forth gen?
why I think upgrading MAF size would be the way to go..
Hey just a thought, MAP sensors read a static value from a large AREA in the plenum, but under loads and rapid changes ( DYNAMICS of AIRFLOW) wouldn't it be IN-accurate as the Vortices in the Plenum at the time of changes would have positive and Negative Pressure areas over the MEAN PRESSURE ? then I would wonder would the Position of the MAP BE VERY IMPORTANT...Probably in my opinion a very Minute difference or reaction time, but a MAF sensor would read more accurate ? Wouldn't The Voltage output MAF be less desirable then the FREQ MAF, for accuracy.. Transient signals interfer with the voltage signal, and if its a FREQuency its most likely not affected as much, unless you taped the signal wire to the IGN COIL output wire. But if I had a Volt Type I would definately Wind the signal output wire with a ground wire to keep it semi-shielded..

I have fixed a lot of the gramer and the spelling errors, cut out alot of useless comments, and put in all Pics, into a word file that is A lot better to deal with, (as far as printing goes)....
This I am sure is not perfect, and If you want me to fix the file cool, or you can just deal with it yourself....
Please Read the bottom Of the last page...
Save as If you would like, the .doc file

Re: The Definitive $32 $32b Tunning Article
Hello Folks.
Not sure on protocol here so my apologies if this isn't the way to do this, but I have been an avid lurker yet vociferous consumer of MUCH of the tuning/PROM burning forums out here and used funstick's article here as my College 101-course. I began with his word doc and added to it over the years, adding more trial and error experience, forum articles and various other internet-based tuning knowledge, to compile my own bible of my tuning changes over the last few years.
Since I've selfishly consumed much of the information shared not only on this thread, but this website in general, I am offering up a recompiled, and hopefully updated, document on $32/$32B tuning. Further, based on personal experience, I documented my learning curve when upgrading to $6E.
Even though this particular technology is over 25 years old - I hope that someone else can gain a little knowledge from my (our) experience in the vain that it doesn't take as long as my experience did. Hopefully this is giving back a little bit to this community.
Enjoy.

I want to personally thank you for this! This was something I had dreamed of doing one day but could not have possibly made it happen as my knowledge of this is not even close to what you have demonstrated in this document. Thanks so much for posting this, it is very much appreciated!
