so my speedo isn't workin anymore...but, the torque converter lock up works fine. I do get the VSS code sometimes, when get on it hard....that leads me to belive the gauge is broken, because on my friend's 87 monte, when his speedo didn't work (due to the cable) the TCC didn't lock up at all....

soo what do you think of that?

 

well if you have a 122870 ecm it should be an optical VSS. sif the speed cable is broken or the gear on teh tranny is stripped or etc etc etc the VSS wont read. in the last few years ive seen more borken speedo cables and stripped speedo drives than i have seen bad speedometer head check the cbale first it most likely sucmbed to corrsion. this is based on the cars comming into the tranny shop.
