New Part Number for 749 Puter
New Part Number for 749 Puter
I've been looking for a Turbo 1227749 ECM and I ran across a new number. Does anybody know if 16198263 is really a 749 that will take $58 code. I can still buy the 16198263 through GM parts direct.
Also, I need a GM part numer for a 2 Bar MAP sensor for the 749.
The boosted 455 olds is about to come to life!!!!!!
Thanks,
Steve

The 16198263 part number is correct. I purchased one from GMpartsdirect and it worked just fine running the $58 code. That being said, I believe that if your planning to run high impedance injectors, the 730 ECM will run the $58 code also. As a matter of fact I was running the $58 code in a 730 for a short time when I was trying to sort out some other problems.
Hope this helps

So running the $58 code in the 730 is possible? Is it still possible to read the two bar map? Cause if that's true, then I would definately like to buy the much cheaper and easy to find 730 ecm, instead of the 749.

The 2 bar capability is in the code, not the ECM. However like Sablt194 said, the 730 only has one injector driver, therefore only saturated injectors will work. BW

Gotcha. Thank ya for the info. So the 749 can use either type of injector? Sorry, im starting to get the hand of programming, but still not quite sure on all the difference's between the codes and ecms.
I got a good deal on 42lb/hr greentop ford injectors, is there anywhere i can look to see what type of injectors these are? thanks guys, you are all a lot of help.

You can take a multimeter and measure the resistance of the injectors across the two terminals. Saturated injectors (high z)should read ~15 ohms. Peak and Hold (low z) will be less than 5 ohms. Make sure your meter is zeroed when shorted. I had a meter go bad on ohms only, min read was 11 ohms plus whatever I was measuring... BW
