Best method of logging data?

Wanted to ask how everyone logs data from their car?

I am runing the moates software and just drive around and have logging turned on. Then I sort through the data and start adjusting the VE tables with averages of certain RPM ranges and KPA values.

But the main thing I really wanted to ask is, to get the higher KPA and RPM values is it okay to leave the car in 1st gear and drive around then put it into 2nd gear and drive around then into 3rd to get the most differnet KPA and RPM values possible?

Or does the car have to be left in D when data logging?

Already I can see that from some of the adjustments I have made that I will not have VE values increasing like they should which was mentioned in the tuning article.

From memory my VE value at 30KPA at 1100 rpm is like 71

and the VE value at 60 KPA at 1100RPM is like 60.

What is the story with this?

I had a look at the stock VE values and they just about all increase in VE value in that RPM range all right through the table. But If I want 128 solid BLMs I will not have a table like that.

Is this a problem?

That's odd about your table but I don't know how to go about answering that. Maybe somebody else could explain it.
I can however tell you that logging is best to do with your normal driving habits. If you drive around in overdrive, leave the car in 2nd for a while to get high in the rpm and a wide range of kpa, then shift into 3rd, stay in that for a while, then go into overdrive. The idea with overdrive is that it'll place a lot of load on the car at low rpm and with it's gear ratio you'll get a very accurate reading at those certain blocks. The other gears are really only good for getting what's usually out of range from your normal driving. This is good to do for WOT afr calculations.
When it's all said and done, just give the motor what it wants. If the car wants a funky looking VE table but it performs just as well then go with it. If you notice a decrease in performance etc then you know something is wrong with the o2 sensor. Don't forget to tune the spark! It can drastically effect the VE of your engine.

The VE values what I am talking about (70 and 61) are the values after I convert my current VE value to what my BLM was.

Some of my values will be all over the place not incrementing the higher I go in KPA.

I'll adjust the Ve tables and see what happens. If it runs worse I'll change it again.

The spark table I will do after I get my BLMs around the 128 mark. Then I wil hit the spark table and then have to go back to the VE table and adjust it again.
