85 questions for the experts...

What is the chip that came in the 85 cars, if I were to order a new one where can they be found?

I have seen them without the UV window, is that typical of the way they came?

Any help on these babies would be appreciated. I do have one that does not have a window, but the numbers are none that I can find on Digi-key etc.

Thanks all you gurus of the tuning world!

Do you need this info for your 'chip tuning business'?

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=441332

No commercial exchange of any kind on this board. If you want to run a custom chip tuning business then don't expect this forum to be your customer support. This is a DIY forum. Not a 'use your info so I can make money' forum.

WTF are you talking about?

If you would like to ask Corkvette1 if he asked me to find out the type of chip his 85 vette runs and see were to get them so "WE" can tune them, then have at it.. We had an agreement that he would help me build my 406 and I would in turn help him to tune his 85 vette.

As for the post about me doing chips for people...who the F cares? First off let me say, some of these people do not have the time or the patients to figure this stuff out..and would rather have someone like me that is not gonna stick there noise up in the air at them because they are not willing to spend the time and money on the equipment..and I ALWAYS honestly tell the people I do chips for that there is no way I can do them and get them 100% perfect not in person, so I am not misleading them like Hypertech, etc.

And let me say this too. If your going to put information like this out on the net for public viewing, don't expect it to stay *confidential* and never to be used by anyone for anything other than you *think* it should be used for.

I try to help out people here just as much as I might as a question, so if you want to *kick* me off the board for that or doing chips for people, than have at it. I did not break any confidentiality or disclaimer that I am aware of when coming to the board so get off my back!

The people I do the chips are obviously enjoying their cars more than they previously did, and it offsets the time I spend learning about experiementing with the chips. You should know this stuff is 95% actual testing and 5% reading...

And one last thing, let me make it VERY clear. This post was not for a customer, so before you go off half cocked again, ask yourself if you ever hooked up a scanner to a friends car or perhaps gave information learned here to someone that did not read it first hand. I suspect now you understand why I posted.

Also thanks for the *advertisement* here on *your* board

The main link to this forum clearly states ...

"No commercial exchange. NOT a referral service."

There is no reason to get mad about me simply indicating that you are making some money on the backend. It's that simple. If you want to make money by burning 'custom' chips for people then go for it. Lots of people do it. The simple thing is that IF you are going to make money by programming custom chips for people then maybe the people on this forum should know about it. Heck, if I had information that could answer your questions and I knew you were making money by using that information then I would be more inclined not to answer your questions - depending upon the amount of info that you have given back to the community (yes, I have looked at your past posting history). I just wanted to make sure that other people of this forum have the same background information when making a decision to answer your questions.

No reason to get mad about me stating the truth ... unless you are upset that now this info is public knowlege? Simply put - and it doesn't get any more simple than this:

DIY stands for Do it Yourself.

... that means focusing on doing your own PROMs or helping others to learn how to do theirs.

Hooking up a scanner to a friend's car or helping a friend learn how to program their chips is totally in the spirit of DIY and totally in the spirit of this board. Notice that I ASKED you if you needed this info for your chip tuning business. You responded with an answer. That's why this post hasn't been locked. If I was a dik or if I was upset in any way I would just lock the post. But, I'm not - it's no big deal to me with regard to my activities.

Traxton,

I understand where you are coming from, but you can now clearly see that the reason for the post was to help out a friend who asked me to check into it. I am not the type of person to look at him and tell him he has to find his own damn information...I pat his back, he pats mine...I try to contribute as much as I can, when I can to the forum.

And as far as I am concerned your intent was to not question me, but accuse me which I think is a little immature.

As for me not wanting to let anyone know that I have tuned other peoples cars for them, obviously I don't give a rats azz. If I was I would not have the same user name, which I clearly do have. And rather I would creep around in the forum, as many do on the other boards, obviously.

So be what it may. If you want to black ball me, for asking a question, then fine...I will continue to do what I do, and if that offends you, then I suggest you avoid my posts as I'm sure you clearly will. In the end its all

Agreed.. there are several members that are running a back door operation. Sad to say, but its true.

As for Ski... he isn't conserned.

Like so many others, the reason there really isn't much "information sharing" happening here anymore. Hate to say it, but this forum was better when it was not open to the public. To many taking what they need and cashing in...

Of course I clearly see where you were coming from. However, you have now crossed the line by insinuating that I am immature ... which I clearly am not (or else I would just delete the post and ban you). This post is now locked.
