Go to craigs site for the def.file for 7730.
As for the VSS ,You 165 has an external speedo buffer and the 7730 has an internal buffer.
Some of The wires that go to the external will now go directly to the ECM ,and the other just dont get used.

Try to download GMECM EDIT from this topic, https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=164388 much better than winbin.

As for the VSS you must change the EPROM, at least thats how I understands it......

"(requires PROM change: Mag VSS at 0x18 b6 for $8D PROMS)"

Thats only if you don't already have the correct VSS as my 87 already did. Cant recall right now but I think if you have a cable driven speedo then a prom pulse divisor value needs changed.

If you have the digital guages then you will deffinetly not have to make a prom change for the vss,If I recall its the green wire for the stcok buffer that now goes to the 7730.
Yes if you disable vats than you should be fine,Also make sure you are using a 90 and up knock sensor.

Ok here it goes ,the green is the speedo wire you also must connect the yellow and purple wires.
When I did mine I got the info from searching this thread:

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...t=speed+sensor[/URL]

Read this thread there is some good vss info.
