What am I looking for? all experienced with scan tools come in!!
I have moates software and I hook up my car to it. its a SD 305 with 730 ecm. Im just wondering when IM looking at all this data what am I looking for? in other words what is optimal and if something is off what does it mean? for example when looking at my Kpa's from the map, everytime my car does this misfire thing they jump around from 30 up to 33 what does that mean? Im just new to this and trying to interpret the #s into something that makes sense to me. any help will be apprieciated. TY in advance

If I was setting out to get some new software I would get the EASE. I recently was afforded the opportunity to borrow a laptop with it loaded on it, along with Diacom. I used to use Craige Free software and it worked great, but my recent connection problems, not related to craige in any way got me on to this software.
I ran Diacom with limited sucess, and then loaded the Ease software, ITS AWESOME! Much better than anything I used before. Then after the logging, in which I took about 30 minute drive with no disconnecting problems, freezeing nothing. I saved the logs and took it in the house. Within second you can select the graphs you want to see, rather than messing around setting up graphs in excel etc. You can print them and best of all it runs right from the windows enviroment.
I plan on buying my copy ASAP.
Also there was no messing with disabling com ports and other devices to get it going. I was actually the first person to run it on this machine and it worked the very first time with everything as is.
I would highly recommend this to anyone. Hope this helps!
Any questions feel free to contact me.

Not unless you have an O2 sensor per cylinder.
The best thing to do would be to pull 1 plug wire, and when it stops misfiring, you found your culprit.

yea I did that last night and I monitored and recorded the kpa's with all the wires on then pulling one off at a time and there was no significant difference for one cyl, so I have came to the conclusion that this is not an ignition problem. that would be safe to say right?

Well, did the "misfire" that you think you're noticing ever change when you unplugged one wire at a time? If the engine is "misfiring" and you unplug the culprit wire, and it doesn't get any worse, you found the cylinder.

I have been watching this and have to say, I have no idea how you can expect to pull a wire off a car that is idling and expect to see any sort of results, unless the wire is completely dead (no spark). For if you unplug any including the one that has an occasional mis, your gonna see a huge decrease in vacuum.
I think a little easier way would be to connect a timing light to #1 cylinder and pull the trigger. Watch the light for any inconsistancies in the flicker of the light. Then move it to #2 etc. I have used that method and it seems to work much better than that method you described.
If you have a dead cylinder altogehter, just stick something metal up into the SPwire and hold it close to a good ground, have someone turn the car over and check to if it jumps to ground. Keep your hands far away from the metal on this test. iF you have one that is not firing, obviously its the problem.
Just my .02,
