'808 thinks it's getting cold when it's hot?

According to my Winaldl scan info, my '808 thinks it's getting colder as it warms up. I know I'm "Down Under", but I don't think this has anything to do with the temperature being upside down.

I wonder if anyone else using '808 code has had the same issues with Winaldl? When the car is cold, the Winaldl scan says it's about 70* Celsius and when it's at operating temp, it's about 26* C.

A raw count of 183 reads 25.8*, 181 is 26.5*, 179 is 27.3*, 173 is 29.5*, 169 is 31.1*. I don't think the ECM is making the same mistake, because the WOT AFR's are about 12.6 to 1, and light load dyno shows high 13's to 14.5 AFR.

I'm using the $5d mask, which program fine with the FTP site .ECU file. Another '808 I had in a V8 with BAYA bin seemed to read correctly. The voltages and resistances on the CTS are as per manual specs.

Do some of the same masks have inverted temp calcs perhaps?

Try using an ohm meter on it, some when they fail sort of do that.

Maybe Need4speed has a better answer.

Thanks for the answer Bruce, but I did say, "The voltages and resistances on the CTS are as per manual specs. " This was when measured directly on the Coolant Temperature Sender. It reads in the thousands when cold, and something under 200 ohms when hot.

What is the best way to read the voltages at the ECM itself? Do I have to insert some sort of splice into the wire near the plug?

AFA reading voltages at the ECM, instead of stabbing the wire with a pin, I usually just take the cover off the ECM and use the pads where the header gets soldered to the board. I don't know how the 808 is set up, but this way worked well for my 870 and my 730. I guess it depends how long your wiring harness is and how safe you care to be. Disclaimer of not sticking knives into electrical outlets applies...

With the way you had it worded it sounded like the ANOTHER car had checked out with the scanner and you knew that items were to spec in that one.

Thanks for the suggestions fellas,

Everything checked out okay, so I did what I should have done in the first place and emailed JoBy.
He says he's had someone else note the '808 temp problem- apparently it has a different temp calc algorithm to what the configuration file in Winaldl uses- apparently there are 5 or 6 of them.
This will get fixed in the next version of Winaldl.
