Hypertech memcal, what's the small chip under the prom?
I have an old hypertech memcal, with one of their chips in it..
I emailed hypertech asking what chip it was, this was their response:
Now on to the stuff that matters, lol.
I was about to desolder it, to uh "play" with the spark tables and such.. I'm curious as to what they actually changed... And I noticed there is a small chip underneath the actual PROM...
What is this? Why is it there?

Part# 127063 is our old old old stage 3 chip that we discontinued about 12 years ago. It will turn the cooling fan on sooner and a 160 degree stat needs to be installed along with this chip. It also has our Power Tuning designed around 93 octane fuel to increase hp and tq. It was designed to stop the check engine light from coming on when a high flow exhaust has been installed and if the EGR valve was deleted. This works on a 87 Camaro/Firebird 350 tuned port with an automatic. Thanks
