ecm identification help
ecm identification help
A buddy of mine who is also converting to TPI in his '36 International pickup has a wiring harness and ecm which he picked up at a swap meet. It is a 747 ecm which everything I can find says it is for a TBI system. But the harness has eight injector plugs meaning it is for TPI. It appears that his harness goes with his ecm cause the ecm plugs are right and definitely different than a 165 or a 730. Was the 747 used for TPI in any app?
If anybody's interested, here's my project.

A 747 and a 165 harness will plug into each other as both ECMs use a 28 and 32 pin connectors. The 730 adds a third yellow 32 pin connector. However the 747 is TBI only, with 2 injector plugs. The 165 will have 8. The 165 harness will also have a MAF connector, MAF relay and burnoff relay. Without seeing the harness, I would say someone has paired a 747 with a 165 harness. If you could post a pic of the harness maybe we might be able to identify it for you.

It is a possibility that the harness/setup is a conversion. Edelbrock has a TBI to MPFI conversion to go from a stock '747 TBI to a MPFI '747. It does work.
