Nah, it is a good question. An ECM is an Engine Control Module. Only controls the engine along with the TCC in the torque convertor.

A PCM is a Powertrain Control Module and along with the engine controls the transmission (automatic trans). Trans control includes line pressure and shift points.

Any-where. From under the hood to under the dash to under the drivers seat. All depends upon the vehicle.

Of course, this being a 3rd gen site, I'd say under the dash, pass side is a good bet, w/no PCMs to be found

so i've got a big silver metal cigar box looking thing. that's the ecm, correct.
an since it's an 85, there is no pcm?
