Ok, I did the search and havent really found all the answer's. I went from an 85 870 T/A to 730 ECM swap(in progress) and will be going to a 749 within the year. I could not care less about my 85mph speedo, it's embarrasing and it's going in the trash! I have an 87Formula for parts like the buffer box, 140mph ELECTRIC speedo, and wiring and general robbing. I want working cruise and an accurate speedo with my 3.50 geared 9" as it is/was now but without a cable. Can I use a buffered input with the $58 749 code(ran on a 730) or do I need the 90-92 which I think runs straight off the VSS? Also anybody know if the 87 speedo is 90 compatible? I also dont want to swap the speedo electrics to 730 to rework it again when I go 749 code later.


On the good side of things I DO understand: I have new 1 and 2 bar map sensors and I modded the ridges out of them both so they now work in a TPS plug I got new for $6. So I'm down to installing the MAP and taking care of the ESC module wiring and I should be in running order. I'm still looking for an Fbody 90-92 ECM hanger bracket if anybody has one

 

The $58 code supports both optical and magnetic VSS. Changing is a simple flag setting. Yes you can use cruise.
