i downloaded winaldl and made the interface cable with the
sub d 9 connector and 2n2222 transistor, cant make my laptop
read data from the car. any suggestions?
(i am new at this, sorry for the lack of knowledge)

 

Use an extension cord for the laptop and run it on 110 power. If this works then you have a weak battery in your laptop. i went through the same thing, only got a partial data stream until I plugged the laptop in to 110.

 

thanx, I'll try it, but the laptop is new (2 weeks) and with a new
fully charged battery.

 

Are you getting any data at all show in the Winaldl raw data screen?

Have you checked to see that the data is getting through your interface onto the cable (ie correct behaviour of voltages after the transistors)?

Lots of people (me included) have had problems sorting out the com port settings. Many new laptops don't have serial ports these days- are you using a USB adaptor?
