I suppose this might be more of a computer question than a DIY Prom, but it is related.

When I run Moates software (Ive used both 851 and 852) , I press 1 and then after about a min the computer freezes. It is getting info from the car so I can be sure the cable is correct.

So what im thinking is that when it does make the connection the computer locks up, not knowing how to handle it or something.

Im a total newb when it comes to laptops, and im having the hdardest time getting into the BIOS. Ive tried the usual keys (F1,del ,F2 etc) Im thinking in BIOS I can disable this IR port and mabye help it other ways.

 

I have the same problem, it will lock up every few minutes sometimes seconds. Usually after you it locks I hit a key, any key and it unfreezes. Just a bug I guess, it does get kind of annoying though.

 

I have been having this problem forever with his software. My laptop doesn’t freeze it just looses connection. I can record data for hours with data master and have no problems at all.

 

Im going to try it in DOS only and then freescan, see what happens.
