Help!!

I was looking for the right ecu and bin codes for my 1991 3.1L V6 firebird and found that it was the 730 ECM and AZTY bin. I removed the ECM from the car, it's a 730 alright, but the code on the top says AUJW!! What is this, I've not seen this one before and don't know if the AZTY code will work with it or not.

Also, I have the Hyper-tech chip installed on my Memcal. Can i just remove that chip and install a new EPROM or do I have to remove the OEM chip too?

 

I show both BCC's as being valid for a 3.1 v6 auto Fbody. I can't tell which is the later version.

Just remove the Hyfer chip and then use the one you want in it's place.

 

Man, that is good news! I have never tried anything like this before and am probably bugging everyone with lots of stupid questions. Would you happen to know where I can get the right ECU file too?

Have you tried the incoming site? Lots of 730 ECU's there.

I have tried that site, but they only have the same one that I have.. 730_atta.ecu. I have been told that this is for a FWD car and not RWD, I don't know if that's true or not but I'd rather not have to find out the hard way!

I tried this ecu.file. If I remember O.K., this ecu is a $88 mask calibration compatible with 2.8 and 3.1 V6s. - FWD or RWD "nothing to see" (it doesn't matter).

If you can read your bin.file you can see at the 8th position the calibration (probable "88"). Then you can use this ecu. Note if the winbin says : "Ecu file error" is for some errors in the ecu file structure. You can cut parameters in the ecu until it works O.K.. Whit this "mini" ecu you can start.

You are better off with the AZTY calibration. It is the latest from GM and supersedes AUJW. The atta ecu file is for the $A1 mask. Very similar but not the same as the $88. You have a 50/50 shot at a location being the same.

The AZTY1407 you see all over the net is from my car. Grab a copy from the diy-efi site and if the checksum matches use it.

That's interesting. The ftp site's binlibrary $88 folder has the "Atta6656 88.bin" in it.

I've looked around a bit and can't find an $88 ECU file, RBob- can you or anyone else tell me where I can download one from? There's a Caldata type sheet on the ftp incoming site, so there must be an ECU there somewhere.

Hey is that azty1407 file different from the stock one? I'd like to get one modified to account for my mods, but I'm not sure on how to adjust one myself. I should have all the equipment necessary to check the car and burn an EPROM this week.

 

Hear that rustling sound? That's me wiping the egg off my face. You are correct, atta is an $88 mask and the 730_atta.ecu will work on the f-body SD v6's (that ECU file should be named 730_88.ecu to better define it).

What threw me is that the atta bin is a Corsica bin. That and the atta bin has sooo many code differences from the f-body $88 mask. It is just that the calibration data is all the same (from what I can tell). Reviewed all this stuff again this morning.

I was wondering what the filename of the Caldata type sheet is that you found?

The checksum of the original AZTY1407 is $12C4. This also matches the bin from the bin_lib, so looks like you are good to go.

Also note that I was previously incorrect about the 730_atta.ecu file (see post above), you can use that on AZTY.

I was able to find the azty.bin file but not one that was matched azty1407.bin from the diy-efi.org website. can you tell me where I can find it or send it to me at nukeman69@hotmail.com?

LOL. Did you really make a mistake, or were you just checking that we were paying attention?

This is the 727_730_A1 Caldata sheet I was referring to. What do you think about it?

Also, what is the best '730 hac to use?

That is a decent cal data sheet. It is for the $A1 mask which is very similar to the $88 mask, but not the same. From what I have garnered the $A1 and $88 masks share a lot of code. I'd say that the $A1 mask is a bit more refined.

I say that because the FWD vehicles migrated from $88 to $A1 and continued to use $A1 after the $88 was dropped (last known sighting being the '92 V6 f-body).

For a 730 hac, there is the ANHT for the $8D mask, and then the AZTY hac for the $88 mask. Don't know if there are others.
