Error Code 51 - Prom Error

Just recently I started recieving a ERROR CODE 51 (PROM ERROR).

I've tried several different BIN files and they all seem to get the error at one time or another. Wierd thing is, I don't get it all the time and haven't found a pattern in when I do.

Does anyone have any experience with this error and what might cuase it? Could it be the way I'm burning the chips? ECU I'm using? Editor I'm using? Should I find and turn the error flag off?

Using:
165 ECM
ARAP BIN
6ev101 ECU

As always, thanks for any input you can provide.

Make absolutly sure you have the prom seated correctly. Im not sure if your using a zif socket or what, but I used to get errors with my pocket programmer not recognizing the prom it had everything to do with my solder connections. I would imagine if you have poor connections just a little movement would cause that error. Now I always go back with a continuity tester to make absolutly sure every connection is making contact.

I am fairly comfortable that the connections are good. I have to brand new memcal adapters that I swapped out early today to confirm. But since you bring it up, I will pull out all the pieces and check them individually.

You never know, sometimes it's the obvious things you overlook.

Thanks.
