Help please 89 chip/ecm in an 88 car/tpi/wiring???

Will an 89 ecm, chip for a 350 work in my 88 iroc? I need a 350 auto chip, and found one for an 89, with ecm, for a good buy. Will it work? Thanks for the help.

since you have a 350 auto and 88+89 are 165 type it will work. just make sure it your buying a 165 ecm. the only thing is, i would disconnect the cold start injector. why? the 89 code has been "refined" to no longer need the assitance of the CSI. upon a cold start, it fires all 8 injectors. additional fuel is added upon a cold start. it "primes" the engine, so it will start w/o the CSI.

hopefully the ecm/memcal are functional.

best of luck

Don't forget to disable VATS in the '89 chip or you will have a very hard time trying to figure out why your car won't start....
