What now...?

Ok, I am interested in programming chips, but I haven't had too much time to work on it lately. I bought a Pocket Programmer 2, and got some erased EPROMs on ebay. I have GMECMEditor. My car is an 87 camaro with a 305 with a 4-brl carb. I know there is not as much to change as with the fuel injected models. I am wondering what I can do, what I may need, and where I can find more info on the topic. I also bought a few computers on ebay, but one didn't have a removable chip, a pin broke off of another chip, and one computer came without the removable chips (that one really pissed me off). Anyway, please give me any help you can.

Sorry to tell you this, but I've been looking for some stuff to tune a CC carb for some time, and nobody seem to have anything. Basically, there aren't any .ecu files out there, or anything else that would be of help. If you find anything out let me know! I would like to tinker with mine until I get EFI installed on it.

I was just hoping someone would know because so far I spent about $250 into this...for the programmer, computers, and chips. I don't think it controlls a lot with the carburated models though. Does your car have two fuel pumps? Just wondering because for some reason mine was, and everyone I know has a fuel injected camaro. I only run the one on the block though.

You must have a L69, or a later LG4. Mine only had the mechanical fuel pump, but now with a newer block, I had to run an electric in-line pump. It was a royal PITA, too...

For the most part, with a CC carb, the only thing you would change in a custom prom would be timing. The fuel mixture can be messed with by making adjustments to the carb. For lower rpm/throttle openings, you can make tweaks to the mixture solenoid stops, and for WOT, or near WOT, you play with metering rods and hanger, along with the air valve spring tension. Beyond that, all you have is TCC lock and unlock (which I would like to change on mine!)

If you need more info on tuning the carb, jump over to the carb board, there are some really sharp guys over there (as there are here) that can really help out a bunch!

Good luck!
