Please help out the newbie!!! please help with Winaldl problems.

Hey, I got my whole garage set up for my new computer for scanning and i was pretty amped about it. Now I remember looking around here and seeing the BLM thing. Dont know what it really is, but what I know is that it has something to do with fuel. My BLM's in closed loop were at 158 and i was idling at around 1k. I know thats either to rich or lean.. im gunna say rich since the rich flag kept coming up. I do not have an afpr so i dont know why one would have a rich problem other then timing which brings me to my next question, how do i know what my timing is while the engine is running? Im running winaldl right now. And where do i look to see if im getting knocks? Anything else I should be looking at? I just saw the winaldl 1.09e and down loaded it... I will put it on the garage computer tomorrow.
Also, i got this cable off the internet and he included a cd rom full of software. He said the craig motes software is on it, but i have yet to see anything that resembles it. i see winaldl, diacom, autotap, and a few other things, but no where does it say motes software. I hear many a good things abotu mr. motes's software. Is it the same as winaldl or is it more of a chip buring software? thanks for the help fellas... Im going to be joining the crazy few and be making my own proms soon!!

158 blm is crazy lean. You might be getting the rich flag because the ECM is dumping tons of extra fuel in to counter the lean condition.
For Craig's soft ware, look for something like ECM850.zip on your disk or go here http://moates.net/gmecm/software.html and get the ECM852.zip.

ok, i got ecm850 on the CD!!! sweet.. but its 2am and im falling asleep as i type this. its to large to put on a flopy disk... and the laptop doesnt have winzip so i cant unzip it... wow... i have 4 computers and only one works the way i want it to... i have computers like people have cars... and the one that works... its in the garage!!! hahah! well this one works too.. but this is my school/leasure one... thanks for the info... 158 is crazy lean? could it be o2 sensor related? Is an afpr in my future just till i can compensate with a chip later on down the line?

also, I just passed NJ emissions testing this past weekend. I was well below the standard... well below in everything.

there is something definatly wrong if its that lean with ony a few minor mods. Its probably not the o2 if it passed well below standards. Id say check the fuel pressure.
