New Chip; Computer Not Responding with AutoXray

I starting messing with chip burning this weekend and ran into a problem. I read on the board about changing the constant on my FI size to 24 lbs. Also, I read how to change the constant to disable the EGR. The problem I have it that once I put the new chip with the Moates adapter and factor chip piggy backed it throws the check engine light solid. It also will not let me use my AutoXray to see what the problem is. It tells me when I scan that the computer is not responding. I disconnected the battery when I changed out the chips. I believe I have the chip in right. Once I take the chip out and put the factory one back in everything is okay. I even went back and verified the settings by taking the bin off the burnt chip and viewing it. I believe that the bin file is making it on to the chip. Any ideas would be appreciated. BranZ

Sounds like a checksum issue. Be sure your checksum is calculated and updated correctly.

You can disable the checksum altogether by setting the mask ID to AA.

I am confused on where exactly to change the Mask ID. Mangus where do I get more information on how this part of it works. Did I miss it in Traxion article. Please give me some more detail. Thanks, BranZ

in most applications (6E for instance), the mask ID byte is the 9th byte in the bin. i.e, the 9th byte (starting with 1) is 0x6E. Set this to 0xAA and the computer won't acknowledge the checksum.

Have you checked your PM's? I sent you a similar question about another location.

I'm sorry. Take your time! no emergency. I thought maybe you had PM turned off.
