Thinking of getting into chip burning.....help please

Okay i am thinking about getting into chip burning, my friend has some software he wants to get rid of so i am thinking of buying it. My question is i have a 92 Camaro w/ a 350 TPI, 5 speed in it. I took the TPI out of an 89' IROC that had a automatic transmition in it and am having some problems with it. If i were to try to burn a chip for my car, what mask (i think that's the proper term) or what is the base chip program that i would use?..... The ECM is a 7165. I don't know anything about burning chips yet, so forgive my stupidity if this doesn't make sense.
