Best Choice for TBI ECM for retrofit

My buddy want's to convert his 69 Buick GS 455 from a carb to TBI injection. I've tried to convince him to go port injection with a 730 ECM, but he's hell bent on TBI. Go figure. Anyhow, What's my best choice of ECM's for TBI applications. I'd like to be able to use Tunercat and Datamaster. Also would like to have a higher baud rate ECM. That 160 baud stuff is dowright painfull to deal with. I was looking at $0D, $31, and $85 masks and 16196395, or 16196396. All this uses 2732 E prom so I'm guessing it's the slow stuff.

Thanks for your help!

i would go with holley 900 system. they use their own ECU. not sure if dual TB 454 system with 90 injectors will support over 400 HP.

I'm running the 85 code in my 7060.
Nice stuff.

Trouble is it's a PCM and needs the high rate VSS signal. I don't know how it'd work without a VSS.

It'd be interesting to use a 749, and 8D code. And you can get an inline VSS signal generator for it.

TBI, can be made to run really well. IMO, TBI is the unsung fun EFI. The bells and whistles of port can be just that at times.

The Holly system is something I didn't even think about. We'll take a look at it , Thanks.

We'll be putting VSS on the output shaft of the M22 transmission. You quoted " High Rate VSS" is there something special about that? I'll take a closer look at the $85. Is that ECM you reccomended a higher baud rate version?

Now a 749 puter running 730 code driving a pair of injectors sounds interesting as well. I wonder how the AE calculation stuff would convert over from TPI to TBI. Seems like there would be a bunch of uglyness somewhere.

Thanks for the replies!

Grumpy,

I found the 7060 in LL's cross reference page. That looks like a good choice as well except the Grand Sport has a Manual Trans. How difficult to disable the 4l80e stuff?
