Testing your aldl cable?
I have this program to test the cable. But how do you do it, you just hook it up without it being in the car? And if you need an external power source like I have do you need power to test the cable? I made this one and I am getting nothing. Thanks.

I made mine too and I just put a multitester on it with it plugged into my serial port and the WinALDL running. I got squat when I tapped the leads together. I checked the voltages and I am only getting about 9.61VDC out of my serial port. Is that enough?
If you wouldn't mind, would you email me a copy of that tester program? I might like to give it a whirl myself.

and yes, if your cable requires power, it must be powered up in order to test it.
