idle timing again

I've been working with my timing at idle to try and get it smoother.. I noticed if I increase the timing in the main spark table
the car idles rougher so I tried decreasing the timing and this is what I noticed.
I change all the cells from 400rpm to 800rpm and 20 kpa to 45kpa to 14 degrees down from 20 and I changed the closed throttle timing at 800 and below to 14 degrees however my timing at idle still shows a total of 24 degrees in relation to tdc.. Same as before eventhough I change
it by 6 degrees... what am i missing.. help

Try changing your closed throttle timing table. The ECM may be referencing that instead of the main spark table.

What's your base timing, and is that accounted for in your editor?.

Try 0'ing out all the timing tables you can find, and corrections and see what you get.

ULTM8Z.. if you read carefully the original post you'll see I stated that closed throttle
timing is also set to 14 degrees..

Grumpy... yes my base timing is included..
tuner pro states:
spark adv rel to tdc..24 degrees
spark adv rel to ref pulse 17 degrees.
my base timing is approx 7 degrees which would seem to be the difference.

From what I've read on this board if I set my table to say 14 degrees then that should be the total the ecm sets timing at..ie 7 degrees base + ecm adds 7 degrees for a total of 14 degrees before tdc. Is this correct.
