You "can" get it to work but it's still not quite right. The extra pins MUST hang out to the inside of the ECM. (the red pin 1-2,27-28) It will bend 2 of the pins trying to go over the end of the stock GM socket. I took my spare ECM and pulled the PCB. desoldered the GM socket and installed a standard 28pin socket.
Again put the extra pins to the inside.
Or you can try to grind or cut the very end of the stock socket to clear the extra pins.
The romulator cable will not fit very tight in the GM socket so you may want add a little pressure with a rubberband or tape around the ECM.

Well, your not alone, we don't have time to cover all the errors I've made <G>

Anyway, it's a poor pic, but this is my Romulator to C3 adapter.

I took a normal prom, and busted the quartz window out, and then cut the top of the normal holder off.

Then soldered a socket to the TOP of the prom and inserted it into the prom holder. The epoxied it together.

If your good at desoldering, then the Moates adapter is a mush more eloquent answer.

Hey Grumpy, did you take that picture with the chip on the tip of your finger?

So if i go the moates layered route

Romulator Header.
28 Pin ZIF Socket.
28-24 G2 ADAPTOR.
24 Pin Standard dil? SOCKET.
ECU.

When i have finished the tuning session and have burnt my revised 2732a 24pin chip does it insert into 28 pin Zif or do i need to strip away a few layers ?

Thanks again for all the help.

email him. i am not certain he still offers it. i hope i am wrong. i could not order from him back 6/03 since he discontinued or some other reason. i just too to computer shop near home and they soldered in a 28 pin device. mistake i made in not using the 28 pin zip which is so much easier on install/removal. plus i think will told onto the ROM and not let go. you know what happens if it lets go right?

He carries it.

To answer your last question, the moates adapter takes 29C256/SF512 chips. You won't have to use the 24 pin 2732A again. 28 pins from that point forward. :-D

He still offers it. I just got one...I hope. My wife said I got a couple of packages today...a shifter and an AutoPROM with the G2 adapter.
Check the spacing on your pins. It makes a difference in which adapter you order.
