traction control

Here is a random idea i came up with today, that i don't have the skills or knowledge to actually do anything with, so thought i'd throw it out there for the smarter people.

we know that traction control typically is used to retard timing. we also know that the knock sensor is used to retard timing, and that the ecm is very configurable on how it is to retard/return the timing based on the knock input (well, at least 730 is, i have no idea bout anything else).

what if the knock input wasn't really a knock sensor, but some kind of digital or analog piece of circuitry that compared front wheel speed to rear wheel speed?

sounds like the makings of traction control to me.

Retarding the timing might work on a small displacement high RPM motor, but not on a healthy 350, from the testing I did. It took actually dropping cylinders.
It's fairly easy to just use some logic circuits, and drop the ignition pulse to kill a cylinder.

Delta RPM change at a given VSS would do it.

Actually not too difficult for launching.

Wouldn't that be trans/converter slip?

I've been thinking about this too.
There is already delta tps code in there, so you wouldn't need to figure that out. Just readdress the I/O. And copy it to unused address space. Simplified I know.

How do you drop a cylinder?
Could you just retard enough to miss one cylinder?

If you drop fuel, that would be a whole bank? And might be too much.
