My car runs high 12's on stock smog heads. That cam you picked is not the best choice. If you are using efi then I would suggest lda of 112-114.

You can use math formulas or this program by Pat Kelley.

Re: cam tuning question

heres my problem i have a 86 tpi 350! The guy i got it from said it was bored 60 over has a healthy cam and flowtech heads with roller tips it also has no cats and has a magnaflow exaust! The car doesnt want to start unless u feather the gas and when it does start it will surge and stall unless u keep the trottle down! And it wants to run hot i know all the plastic is gone under the front end but could the cam cause it to run hoter if not working right with the engine! Ive read all the post on thirdgen.org about tuning one but i really dont understand the concept of it could someone please help!

Re: cam tuning question

You need to study the 'stickies" above. Some applies to you some not. "Come in for free tune" sticky in TBI section may not apply to you in total but is good read as it discusses the basics of EFI tuning. First step is to locate a ALDL cable download winALDL or TunerproRT and datalog that engine. Your sensors will give you info as to what needs to be tweeked.
