Which PROM to use for 86 TA 350 TPI
Which PROM to use for 86 TA 350 TPI
I'm swapping in a 350 into my 86 TA and need to find a stock/base PROM (6e if possible)
86 TA
Mild 350 with 882 heads
MAF
700R4
AC
No VATS
One Radiator Fan
I've been looking at all the PROMS available and can't tell which ones are setup for manual or automatic tranny. Also, does the VATS flag need to be checked or unchecked? Noob here, so cut me some slack.
Anyone have a PROM file available for this combo?

I am a noob too, but the AXCN.bin is from a Vette with manual tranny. (So I have read). OOps, I just re-read your post, your looking for a $6E? IIRC - the AXCN is for a $8D, sorry.
This will probably be too much ignition for your combo though.
Do you not have the prom/bin from your OEM car/computer?
That would be the best place to start.
I am not familiar with your T/A was it originally a 305?
If so, you can use your OEM bin, change the cylinder volume, and finish some fine - tuning.
Good luck.

The car was originally a 305TPI. I don't have the original chip(my dog chewed it, really). Currently I have an ADS chip from an 87 formula 305 in it. It really would be as simple as changing the cylinder volume and nothing else? Assuming very mild 350?
OK anyone have a stock 86 TA 305 TPI AC 700R4 PROM?
Still looking for a 6E setup for 86 TA 350 TPI AC 700R4 to start with a good base.
Thanks

As NOOB myself, there maybe injector size/flow issues and timing to deal with too.
You're running the OEM (305) TPI right?
Hopefully someone else with more knowledge will reply....
Good luck.

All the stock F-body bins I'm aware of have provisions for AC.
And although GM did issue different BCCs based on gear ratio, any differences are very minor, and not of concern if you're looking for a base cal to modify.
AUJM was the last, and therefore most up-to-date, 5.7L TPI/MAF/automatic calibration from GM. So why not start where GM left off?
Being that it's 6E, you will need to disable VATS.
Also, GM used both Normally Open, and Normally Closed AC pressure switches. Off the top of my head, I can't remember which one was used in '89, but you'll want to make sure that matches what's on your car. (no problem with just unplugging it for now, until you're up and running)
