Pocket Programmer and WinXP

I have just upgraded my laptop and the new one runs XP.

I had no trouble burning proms with the old one using PPII software version 1.47, or 1.93. (Win95)
I am having trouble with his new computer running XP. v1.47 is not intended for xp, altho it does allow me to do everything except burn chips.
V1.93 does most things, but won't allow me to load a bin file from disk, every time i try it gives me an "Access Violation Error"

Xtronics have not been helpful. They do have a v1.97 available on their website, but the installation password costs $50, and again there is no way of knowing if it will work...
Has anyone had similar probs with xp and v 1.93, but had success with 1.97??

Thanks,
Ben.

I have no problems running their software on XP. I don't use a laptop though so it might be some setting on the laptop??

I have not had that problem with 1.93. Have you turned off simple file sharing and are now using NTFS permissions and didn't give yourself or 'system' access to the directory the BIN files are located?

My laptop w/ XP and PP run like a champ.....havent had a single problem. I dont have it sitting in front of me, but I'll find out what v. of PP I'm running and let ya know!

Try completely removing it and reinstalling! Make sure there isnt a hardware issue with your parrellel (SP?) port or something stupid like that!

Using pocket programmer v 1.67 here on a winXP desktop, works great.
