funky laptop issues

I've been trying to get a def. file for the 8746 ecu and I've found the file it self. Now I just need to figure out why the laptop only saves it as a text file. If anyone has any pointers to help me out it would be much appreciated. Is there something I can do to convert the text to the .ecu file???

Thanks in advance

When you save the file in notepad, (save as) select all files as the type, not *.txt. Then make it *.ecu.
You can also right click the file and rename it.

Not often I get/can answer something here

If you can fit all the data on one screen, hit the "print screen" button on the keyboard. That will save the screenshot to clipboard. Then open up paint and select "paste". You can then save it or print it.
