Catalytic Converter question

How rich can I go with the AFR before I start doing damage to the Catalytic Converter? When I'm at the track I will have my cutout open, but I can't drive that way on the street. The local constabulary seems to have a problem with that for some reason......

Since I will have a PROMinator with a rotary dip switch I can have more than one program in the car to switch to, so multiple programs is not a real problem. Well, other than datalogging and programming time (bummer, the dreaded time monster again).

Actually with a cat the requirement is to go so rich that the cat goes out. Running 12.8 to 13.1 (general range, not absolute) will fry a cat. Going to 11:1 AFR has so much fuel and no left over O2 that the cat doesn't have anyhting to do. Hence safe for it.
