i dunno what to do??

ok i have built the max232 cable exactly how it is drawn out and it seems to operare correctly( the cable itself) i can connect to hyperterminal with it powered up and it will echo back what i type in and all. so i know the connector is working properly and i have the correct com ports selected. the program that i use is tunerpro RT no matter what i try to do it just will not connect to the ecm, and yes it has the right port selected in tunerpro. most of the time it will just try to connect and then say not connected and sometimes it will try to connect and then just lock up and i have to restart the computer. i am working with a 730 ecm and a code mask of $8D but its the 3.1 v6.(year 92) i havnt heard of anyone on here messing with a v6 yet so i dont know if it is a difference in the engine setup or what. can anyone help me at all? oh and yes i am using the right port in the aldl the two right hand pins top and bottom i believe are A and M A is ground and M is data port.

If your looking to do some data logging, get the datastream file from the TunerPro website for the 730 ECM 90-92 3.1 V6. I have the same engine and ECM combo and it works for me.
