Swapping BINs while car is on?
I just got my two-bank bin switcher working now and was curious to know if I could flip the switch from one BIN to the other while the engine is running. Is this possible, or would it screw something up?
I have Craig's GP-3 switcher, it holds 16 of my bins. He said I can switch with the car running but the engine might hiccup for a second. I havent tried it yet though as I was having trouble with my epromer programming the required 29F040 chips for it. So basically I have no hard facts, just what I was told. I have a new prom burner on the way, so maybe next week or so I will get to try it out. Sounds like you will beat me to it though.
BTW- I searched EBAY for "bin trader" and came up empty. I was curious to see what you have. Do you have any links or pics?

I do them during a throttle lift, like say at 55. That way if it burps no biggie. Usually DFCO is off, so notin can go rong, wrng, wron, wro...
Get it?.
Misread the .bin, LOL
Doc thought it was funny.

Actually, I bought an ALDL cable from someone, and they said they also had a bin switching thing, so I figured I'd give it a try. I actually found what the problem was and it made me feel stupid. All my solder joints were good, it was the ZIF socket that I installed on top of it. One of the pins appeared to have broken half way off or was shoved up into the ZIF, so I extended it with a piece of solid wire and now it works beautifully.
I was just curious about the switching while it was running in case there was ever a time I just happened to be running 93 octane, and I happened to have a second BIN on the chip with a bit more timing/fuel than my leaned-out economy chip, and someone pulled up to race

Get an incar boost controller. Then as matters develope, you don't have to worry about programming changes.

Just be sure to glance at it periodically if Doc's in the car. He just has a habit of liking spinning *****, so you just never know for sure which way he's spun it last....
