Identifying your ECM???
How do I identify my ECM. I want to buy a few extra ones as I have been reading this board and aparently smoking an ECM isn't an un-common thing. I plan to get into the whole chip burning scene in the near future however I wouldn't mind to get a few ECM's like the one I have incase I do something wrong and cook it.
Any advice as to where I should look and where the numbers are would be greatly apreciated.

Hey,
If you pull the ECM out there should be a sticker on the outside of it that'll have a number on it that looks like 1228xxx.
From Traxion's into to prom burning a 1988 TBI ECM should be 1228063.

You can probably find some on ebay or at your local junk yard.

Its an 8063, and they only made them for one year so they can be more expensive then the usual stuff. Id buy one extra, like an 8746 and use that one for whatever you plan to do. Since youll be able to burn a chip you can disable the VATS.
