Why do I feel like I'm missing something simple??

So I finally came up with the cash for an AutoProm (USB version,) and it came in this morning. I downloaded TunerPro a couple months ago, so I've had plenty of time to play around with it and get used to the functions. The problem is, I went to read a stock chip (just to say I did) and all I'm getting is I/O errors from the AutoProm. The chip is in the right way (notch and empty slots toward the handle) and I have the AutoProm selected as my ALDL/datalog interface. I also have the correct chip (27c256) selected to read. What am I missing??

I also tried blank-checking, erasing, and burning to a brand new 27sf512 chip, and got errors each time. I haven't tried datalogging or emulating yet, as the TPI motor for my truck is still in pieces in my shed. I have a friend with a '91 Z who needs some chip-work, so I hope to try datalogging and possibly even emulating on his car this weekend. It just really bothers me that after 4 months of studying I can't even get a chip to read....

USB AutoProm, right?

Did you install the drivers - is the AutoProm detected when you start TunerPro? Its rare to get I/O errors during a read. However, have you tried a different PC to confirm its not an issue with your USB port?

Let me know.

Mark

Installed and registered (using the same key) TunerPro on my desktop for that very purpose...same result. TunerPro is not detecting the AutoProm on either system. What drivers?

That would be the simple thing I'm missing, I suppose....

Edit: I just found it on Craig's site. Gimme a couple minutes.....
