'746 vs '288

Ah.. wondering if anyone knows anything about the '746 ecu and '288 ecus, vs a '165?

Long story really short, a friend came to me, and wants to see what can be done with his '91 4.3 TBI 5spd S10.

So we're wondering what TBI computers there are, and if there is any 'preferred' one out there?

The '288 is the S10's stock one - the '746 *he's got 2* are out of his '89 Camaro, 305 TBI.

A few guys here are running the 8746.
The 288 I believe hasn't been worked on much, thou I think Tunercat has an editor for it.
The 165 was only used in single injector TBI setups.

The 8746 and the 7747 are the two most popular tbi ecms in use id say. Either one would work fine provided its set up right. The netres will need to be changed. In the 8746 its soldered in so youll need to do some soldering to replace it. And it also needs to ahve a custom chip burned as no 8746 was ever used with a 4.3L to my knowledge.
