Question on ebays prom changes for sale
I am sure all of you have seen the proms for sale the say they can add 15 extra horse power. Are these things for real? I think I would just use my laptop and make the changes from there. Isn't that a better idea?

Just use your present stock calibration. Those 'chips' are pretty much just stock stuff, anyhow.
Iv'e read the description on some of those "chips" and they arent new eproms. Most of them are resistors, that they direct you to install in you MAT sensor to *trick* the computer into increasing the fuel supply by making the computer *see* a cooler air temp. Total BS to me.

Yes, it is possible to gain 15hp, but not from a generic tune, from a distance, without specific information about your particular car in advance. Spend a while in this section reading various posts and you will learn what is and isnt possible. The reason it isnt recommended is that there is no way anyone can say to run a certain amount of fuel and a certain amount of timing (amongst many other variables) and that those same parameters will work on every car, in every state, in all weather conditions, at all elevations, and be optimum for everyone, whether you have a camaro, corvette, pickup, automatic trans, manual trans, headers, cam, or completely stock. There are just WAY too many variables to sell a "one size fits all" chip. That seller on ebay will be there for a while, so dont worry about him/her selling out. Its wasted money anyway.
