does ecu file matter?
well I am using tunerpro to modify my bin file, but I noticed that depending on which version of the ecu file you use, you get slightly different values for your constants and such. also there are more or less constants, flags, etc. available depending ecu file. I am using a 730 ecm and I have at least 3 different ecu files for it. will it matter which one I used when I burn my new bin file to the chip?

Very important.....the ECU tells TunerPro where in the .bin to look for each bit of information. Using the wrong ECU will not only show you wrong values, it'll also change the wrong values in the .bin when you try to make an adjustment. This can cause really nasty problems if you're an unlucky person.
You have to use the right ECU for your code mask. If you'll select the .bin, and go to the tools tab and select "advanced" and then "hex editor," you'll get a screen with lots and lots of little 2-digit numbers. In the very first line, you'll see where the numbers are grouped in pairs. Look for the 9th pair (if one of the numbers is a letter that's fine.) That 2-digit value (i.e. 8D or 88 or 0D etc.) is your code mask. Use the ECU that matches it. If you have more than one for the same mask, use whichever one suits your fancy....they should essentially be the same, just made by different people.

The file "Super8_dm2.ecu" is a good file to use. Its what I've been using for AUJP $8D.

Some of the older files out there have issues with TPS and a few other readings.

see here is the thing I have 3 versions of a $8D ecu. that is why I said I have 3 730 ecu files, but depending on which one I pick there are more or less things to modify. I am using the super8 which seems to be the most complete. just wondering if using another one might have an advantage.

The others may have an entry or 2 that Super8 doesn't show. They may also name things in a way that's easier to understand. Comparing between them is a good way to check for inaccuracies in the .ECU's.
JP86SS has a good point about age....newer files will almost certainly be better and more complete than older ones.
