Measuring Performance

I got a G-Tech RR today.
Nice.......

A quick read thur the manual, and 2 mins to install the holder was all that it took to get it up and running.

I haven't used the PC software to look at anything yet, but just using it was incredible. Unlike the earlier G-Tech this one always stays solidly attached to the glass.

It also have programable distance markers, so you can do 60', 330', 1/8m, or 1/4m, plus braking. It has a road racing mode for those so inclined.

Simple and intuitive.

The Tazzo also had a very solid mounting system with 4 suction cups spread over a large area on the windshield . Still it would hickup but rather accurate... much more so than the G-tech original.

The software is very nice, from what I hear. You can compare different acceleration points and stuff. I'm jealous!

This months Car and Driver did a great job testing performance meters ranging from $100 to $900 at a drag stip and comparing results. Just in case anyone was interested in checking it out. They give you the pros and cons on each as well and what then went through to test it. Great source.

What did C&D say about the Escort GT2? I grabbed one cheap. Hope to get to the track sone. I’ll post back with results and a run down on the PC software.

Sorry for the delay, I was out of town. They said the highs were easy to use, clearly legible screen, a plethora of interesting displays. The lows were optional PC software is a little simplistic. The verdict was lots to offer for the price. They used a roll out correction factor on a Pontiac G6 of 3.4 at the track which got it really close to track times. The skidpad function was within 0.01g of what C&D's actual testing equipment produces. They said the braking distance was off but they did not spend much time with the correction factor on that one since customers were probably not all the interested in braking.
