Help with new ECM and Memcal

I just bought a 1227730 ECM online. It didn't come with the memcal. I went to the dealer with my VIN # to order the correct memcal. When he searched the computer for memcal, all that came up was the ECM and PROM. From what I have read, there is something that plugs into the ecm, that the memcal plugs into. The diagram in the dealership computer identified the prom as just a chip with no adapter. If i order what was listed as the PROM in the dealership computer, will I be getting the holder and the chip, or just the chip. Can someone tell me what parts i need to order so that I can make this ecm complete?

The "chip" or "Prom" as they are refferring to it, should be the chip installed into the holder that has the knock sensor circuitry and the "limp mode" resistor pack.
I'm pretty sure the Prom is soldered into the memcal so replacement of just that is not possible unless you go through all that.
I don't think you can buy just the chip so that should be the right item. Should be around $75 or so. A chip would be around $10 if that is really what it is.
He probably should have just searched for the broadcast code for your car. That would come up easier. AUJP, AUJN ??? whatever it may be.

Thanks for the reply. The item is special order and electronic, so if it was the wrong piece, i wouldn't get my money back. I have a little more confidence now and will buy it the next chance i get.

Get the part number and check it out at Http:\\www.gmpartsdirect.com
You can get it there but watch out for the freight cost
I had to buy a VSS connector for $16, with $18 for freight.

I did a quick search and didn't find it there either...
I bought my AUJP memcal from them about a year ago, I know they are in there.

If you tell us what year model your car is and what engine and trans, and possibly the gear ratio it has, anyone with CalData can give you the memcal part numbers that will work..
Send me an email and I'll send the info back to you.
Ben.
