knock during tip-in.

Whery often I get a knock count during tip-in, and downshift ( manual car ). It takes out 0.1-1 degree of timing. I cant tune this out, is it just something you have to live with?

thanks

hmm does everyone manage to get zero knock counts? Even on heavy modified cars?

I tried many things to get my knock counts to zero under all conditions. But during downshift and sometimes during tip-in, I can see whery short spark retards and I cant manage to tune those outs.

Regards

While 1d doesn't seem to be much, it still might be an indicator of tip-in preignition, and can be life threatening to the engine.

Add a lil fuel or back a lil timing out/ look at your burst knosk settings.

Thanks grumpy. Perhaps play a bit more with AE?
What really puzzels me is the downshift bit. When going from low rpm to high rpm fast. I cant se how to tune out the knocks from there. Cause BLMS is good at both rpm. And when I keep the car stabel at those rpms I got no knocks.
Its just at that exact moment as I engage the clutch going from a high to a low gear. There I got a knockcount.

cheers

This sounds like mechanical noise. The 700R4 tranny's do the same thing on 4-3 and 3-2 shifts. Can cause the ECM to pull a lot of timing just when it's needed the most.

At this point I'd recommend that you pull the plugs out and check them for signs of detonation. If no signs then ignore the counts, if signs then need to work on it.
