ECM Fried?
I have a problem with my ECM (1227747), i have recently installed a G2 adapter from moates.com and i cant get it to work right.
When i start the engine the ses ligt is on constantly and there is no aldl transmittings. Same thing whith the ignition on and the motor off.
I have checked my solderings with a DVM for continuity and they all checked out good. The Bin i´m using is the original one, on a 29c256 chip. I have tried stackin the bin and offsetburning it with no results.
I have ordered another ECM but it dosent get here untill sometime next week. What to do now? :confused
I´m sorry for my spelling i´m a Swedish guy.
And by the way this is a great forum there is no other like it.

When I did my 148 to adapt to the 29c256 I used the same kit u did.
I ruined the first one(pin leads) because I had to completely dissassemble it and resolder both leads in.
If u can see no damage to the pcb traces, then I would suggest trying to desolder the entire assembly and doing it over.
It was the only way I was able to get mine to work properly.
Its been fine ever since, just spent the better part of a day making it work right

Be sure you have the chip installed the right way in the holder and possibly disable the checksum by changing the mask id to $AA.
Its obviously running on the memcal and if all the pins seem ok then it must be something with the chip or the burn of it.

I have found what was wrong. One of the traces in the pcb had broken off where the pin goes thru the pcb. It was realy har to see.
Thanx for the help guys!

I'm blind, least I feel like it without my glasses :-)
A good magnifying glass and a lot of bright lites are used whenever I do soldering or repairs to memcals and ecm's
they are your best friends.
