check engine light from high temp questions?

Ok, It looks to me like the check engine light will come on if the engine reaches "too hot"? Is this true on a 7730 ecu?

If it is, are there any parameters to set or look at? Maybe a min/max temperature, or is that hard coded?

I see "switch 249 error code masks (12-22)" having #14 (bit 5) equate to "coolant temp. sensor high" in my tunerpro ecu.

I would like to know more about this.

Thanks!

Engine: 406 Hyd Roller 236/242
Transmission: 700R4 HomeBrew, 2.4K stall
Axle/Gears: 3:73 Posi, 7.5 Soon to break
730 running $8D has the error 14 parameter temp" if greater than" this temp (address is at 25B in TunerPro definition)
Should be in deg C.
There is a "default" value that is used at address 25C that is used whenever error 14 (hot) or error 15 (low temp) ocurrs.
Mine shows error 14 at 130 C, default value is 61 C.

Thank you very much!

Am I correct that the light would come on if the engine reaches 130C (266F) then? Does anyone change this "hot" value down to something lower, or is there no reason to?

This seems like a good check if your temp guage fails.

Thanks again!

I don't know if anyone changes it but if your car is prone to overheating it may not be a bad idea to know sooner than later
