First of all what do they mean by the phrase "Chip Burning". And what type of Burnt Chip would do well in an 305 TBI??

I do believe there is a stickie up top with a very similar subject as this thread.
Might want to go up there for a month or so....

If you mod your car than you need to change the parameters in your cars computer which is stored on an eprom (electronically programmable read only memory) chip. Burning = Programming

A lot of this info is in the stickys here and also in the TBI section if you have TBI. STICKIES!

The best chips to use are 29C256. They can be erased and reprogrammed over and over.

By the way. Those chips do require and adapter. It has to be soldered into the ECM. I had mind done by Craig Moates. I also bought the chips from him. Along with the burner. Check out his web site.

I second that, Craig Moates and his products are awsome. Not to mention the service and super fast shipping.

You really have to get that adapter, because the 2732 eproms would be more expensive(buying bulk chips, buying eraser, wasting time, etc.) Not to mention the time you would save w/ the 29C256 chips.

What it would cost to start burning chips(what I spent):

LapTop 400mhz $120
WinALDL $Free
ALDL Cable $9 (winford engineering online for the DB9 connector)
Ebay Willem EPROM Programmer $50
Moates G2 .6in $30
Moates HD ZIF $10
Two 29C256 $12
TunerProRT $Free
Reading the stickies $Priceless
