ALDL Stopped Logging

I have been using WinALDL to log data for about 2 years now. I bought a cable back then from I believe Jon Prevost but I could be wrong. It has always worked flawlessly datalogging.

I just swapped new heads and cam onto this motor and now I'm trying to do some datalogging and it won't connect to receive any data whatsoever. I've tried it with 3 different laptops and built a new cable yesterday and none work.

What do you guys think the problem could be?

Ground or serial connections to your ALDL connector. Maybe your com settings are bad.

Checked the serial settings, they're correct, tried every com setting nothing works. I'm pretty sure the ground pin on the connector works, becuase the car will flash the codes if i use a paperclip to ground it out.

If it was working before the head swap and now it isn't, I would make sure all grounds to the heads and body are clean and intact.

Yep...Just got it to work earlier today. I borrowed a working cable from a friend and it still didn't work. So, I took the grounds off the back of the driver's side head and cleaned them a little and rearranged them, then tightened them down good and it works. Must have just been a grounding issue, they can cause so many problems that you wouldn't think they were the culprit.
