see this is the link to the post w/ the xdf file on moates but it just opens as a web page and now i got the program and a .bin all i need is the xdf to start fooling around

k i think i figured out how to dl as a .xdf i had to use wellget a dl manager but when i load that and open the bin and click somethin like egr it just comes up w/ a box that has a place to click "set" then a save and cancel button??? i understand if these dumb questions r pissin u guys off but i just wanna start to try and tackle some stuff other wise i will be so dumbfounded when i comes time to actually burn one ill have no car for along time and it will be soooo frustrating.

. . .and open the bin and click somethin like egr it just comes up w/ a box that has a place to click "set" then a save and cancel button???

If you can do a screen shot and post a small image it would be helpful. It sounds like you opened a MALF flags bit for enabling/disabling the EGR diagnostics reporting. If this is the case then setting the bit enables EGR malfunctions to set a code and the SES light. If the box is unchecked then EGR malfunctions will not be reported.

Try opening the Main SA table. That should make a little more sense. There wil be a MAP axis (load) and an RPM axis. At each intersect will be a SA value. That SA value will be the base SA for the engine at that load and speed.

Pic shows 'EGR type.' Typically this isn't something that is changed. On the other side of the coin, I don't know what defines an 'EGR type.' A quick (about 30seconds) look at the code, it may be controlling the ECM output being high or low to activate the EGR soleniod.

HTH's,

im finding like eight diff. constants dealing w/ egr temp, iac, speed, and map (all on/off settings) do i need to change all these when i really get started (right now just practicing dont have a tuner) to disable my egr all this is looking a lil confusing since i dont even know what the map does or how it opperates in the prom sorry for the questions that r obvious to many of you but im just affraid that you guys will think my questions too basic or dumb if i do get the programmer and i will be stuck w/ it not knowin the sligtlest thing about tunning even though ive read many stickies and faqs. cause most r specific to tpi and i have the tbi ecm and prom thanks and sorry again for askin the basics.
