Fan Control Using Air Divert Output

I have a 165 ecm using the Arap bin and would like to use the ECM and the (unused) air divert output to control my cooling fan. I use a 180 deg. thermostat and bulky adjustable thermo switch for fan control..this works but looks awful.
I can follow the wire logic but I'm not sure if there are other ECM routines that would affect engine operation? Both AIR and EGR hardware have been removed.
Can I use the AIR divert output to the fan relay without other changes to the Arap bin?

The stock '165 w/ARAP supports a fan. Pin C1.

Do a search for Glenn's post about using the ECM to control both cooling fans. All you need to do is swap a pin....
