do I have the right ECM?

in the process of tuning my car, and we've done alot to try and get this thing running better, but now the guy that i'm working with is starting to question the validity of the computer thats in there.

see what happened, is when i got the car, it had a 86 305 computer, with a 89 vette engine swapped in it. and it was running crappy, so the mechanic said yes thats the wrong computer, so he got the "right" one and put it in. And the car did the same thing pretty much after the new computer. He claimed it got better, but I didn't really see a change.

So then winter came, and the car went through extensive mods, and like expected, still doesn't run right.

So my question is, is there a way too look on the computer for numbers or something, so I can make sure the match is right? i'm kind of in the dark here...
