Emulating w/o aldl data?

Though familiar with data logging, I am new to tuning. I have the Autoprom USB w/ the G1 package. I can datalog and emulate independantly, but not toghther...which seems to be the norm.
What is the purpose to emulating if you cannot varify the results through aldl data? Or is it pretty much pointless unless you are simply trying to smooth your idle or something on an equivelant level?

This is in respects to a '730 and tunerpro rt. Am I missing something, or will I have to run another datalogging program while tuning w/ tunerpro?

Should be able to do both, no problem.
Setup TP to be in AP mode, which it should be if you can emulate.
Load up a good ADS definition file for the ALDL and you should be set.
You need to click "select log file..." button and create a file name to call the recorded data.
Press "connect to ECM" then hit the record button to capture it.

If you have an older laptop (or a good one) with a serial port you will also have the option to run another logger from that port while emulating on the USB.
I've done it both ways with good success.
