Tunerpro 4.0 & bin throwing SES, cool fan on
I just downloaded the latest version of TunerPro 4.0 free. I am using it with the xdf file from www.nwstp.com. The file is called 58_2&3bar.xdf.
I started the car with a stock BBZB bin (6 cyl mode) to ensure that it would start without an SES or cool fan on. It worked fine. I then opened TP4.0 and then the 58_2&3bar.xdf file and then the BBZB bin. I did not change any settings. I made a few bin changes and then saved the file. The checksum would not update correctly though. I had to click on the checksum and close it, then it would update. Seemed kind of strange. I programmed the BIN in an EEPROM and did a verify. Put the chip in the car and instant cool fan on. I did this about five times with the same results. I programmed the stock BBZB and tried it......no cool fan on.
I just got the TunerCat $58 def. file so I opened the bin and saved it. Going to try that.
Also, after saving the bin in TP4.0 Free, the "*" stills stays there meaning that the file has modified but not saved. I just downloaded the lastest TP4.0. What am I doing wrong?
Question is: How do you get TP 4.0 to update the checksum properly? It doesn't seem to do it on the fly.
Thanks,
J

I took the same bin that TP4.0 produced with the xdf listed above and opened it with TunerCat and the 58-B def.
I made one change, then change it back, and then saved.
I burned a PROM and it works fine, no cool fan on.
Something is up with TP4.0 and that xdf.

It wasn't a TP4.0 or XDF problem. It was the zif socket I have. I snapped it close quick and the problem went away. I put a new zif socket in it.

( yeh I know you fixed it already)
TP has always updated the CS for me.
Some of the xdf's floating around have the wrong bin size or start in the header data section.
So you might want to check that too.
There is also a $58_RR_v14 on moates.
It's an ecu, so you'll have to import it and then save xdf to use it. Let us (me) know what you find for an ads.
I haven't looked for one.

I was running TP4.0 on a win98 PII-333MHZ machine and it kept crashing. It would lock up hard and would only respond to a complete power-button-kill. I don't think TP4.0 likes win98, I had same problem when I tried the beta version earlier this year. I am not sure if I should buy a copy of winXP for the laptop or just make a file for the 749 using ecm852. I will not be happy if I buy winXP for the laptop (slows it down overall) and TP4.0 still locks up. Anyone running TP4.0 on a PII-333MHZ with winXP?
It locks up sometimes after doing a bin save (I save a lot while editing a bin) and it always locks up when I tried the ALDL logging with the .ads file from the website listed below. I have found two .ads files so far and they don't agree in terms of pulsewidth values and some other stuff. The laptop locks up logging ALDL stuff and requires a power-off. ALDL logging on this machine with TP4.0 is almost usesless. I can't find what the min. requirements are for TP4.0 in terms of hardware.
I will post more later about the ads files. The $58_RR_v14.ecu looks nice. If it is RBob's, then it is probably right on the money. I will give it a try tonight. The Tunercat $58 def. came in but seems to be missing a lot of stuff. I guess I will have to get the tdf editor now.
Thanks,
J
